When determining which offensive system to use, knowing your setter(s) is crucial and knowing how to set your lineup around your setter is just as essential to success. Here are three basic offensive systems that may be utilized:
4-2 – A front row setter option, ideal for beginners.
6-2 – A back row setter option, good for multiple setters and setters who hit well.
5-1 – A single setter option, ideal for a single strong, consistent, leader.
In the video clip below Anne Kordes, University of Louisville Head Coach, will show you how to set your lineup around your setter(s). The clip is from an excellent DVD that will explain the pros and cons of each system as well as how to every rotation in each system.
